Bad Brückenau (dpa/lhe) – In a rear-end collision on Autobahn 7 in Bavaria, Hessian police officers acted as first responders – and received praise from their colleagues. A pickup truck driver drove into a trailer truck on the A7 on Wednesday afternoon and was critically injured, the Bavarian police said. The 61-year-old was taken to hospital by rescue helicopter. Until the arrival of the emergency services, police officers from Hesse, who happened to be nearby, would have provided first aid in an exemplary manner.
The driver of the semi-trailer had stopped because of a traffic jam on the A7 between the Wildflecken and Volkers junctions. It was still unclear why the van crashed into the end of the traffic jam at high speed.
