Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – Because she was caught with almost twelve kilograms of cocaine at Frankfurt Airport, a woman has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison by the Frankfurt Regional Court. The drug was hidden between new men’s shirts on the 31-year-old in March of this year and was sniffed out by a customs investigation dog. The woman came from Sao Paulo and was supposed to bring the cocaine to South Africa.
She made a full confession in court, citing her financial situation as the main motive. Nevertheless, the sentence could not have been lower due to the large amount of drugs, the presiding judge said on Monday to the crying defendant. The defense attorney had previously advocated a lighter sentence, and the prosecutor was in line with the criminal division. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
