A man involved with the 1985 kidnapping and murder of a Enforcement and Drug Administration agent was deported to Mexico this week after serving three years in prison, police said Thursday.
Juan Jose Bernabe Ramirez, 62, has been turned over to Mexican immigration officials Wednesday about the U.S.-Mexico boundary in El Paso, Texas. As a result of his convictions, he’s regarded as a danger to public security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials stated.
The Mexican-born undercover agent was studying drug cartels at Guadalajara, Mexico, when he had been kidnapped on Feb. seven 1985.
“The gruesome nature of the instance is very unsettling. Our dedicated officers worked on producing all the necessary structures to make sure Bernabe’s elimination was smooth,” said Denice Seemiller, behaving area office director for ICE Enforcement and elimination Operations Salt Lake City. “His arrest and removal from the USA sends a very clear message that we won’t tolerate heinous offenders being introduced into our communities”
The situation prompted among the greatest DEA homicide investigations and caused the arrest and conviction of Fonseca Carrillo and fellow Guadalajara cartel leaders, Rafael Caro Quintero and Miguel Angel Félix Gallardo.
