At least five people were killed in a shooting at a home in Cleveland, Texas, ABC News reported Saturday, citing local police.
The shooting took place late on Friday and police are still searching for the suspect, the report added.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:31 p.m. local time, when officials with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office received a call about an incident in Cleveland, Texas, a small town about 55 miles north of Houston. When they arrived they found the victims of the shooting, but not the perpetrator.
According to local media, one of the victims of the shooting was taken by air medical services but died at the hospital, while the other four people were found dead in the house. According to NBC News all the victims were from Honduras. The youngest victim of the shooting was 8 years old and two female victims were found in the bedroom lying on top of two children who survived the ordeal.
According to the same sources, at least 50 officers are on the scene searching for a Mexican man, wearing blue jeans, a goatee, work boots, a black shirt, and short black hair, possibly armed with an AR-15 assault rifle and who at the time Apparently he was intoxicated.
At least 10 people were in the house when police arrived on the scene. The victims were between eight and 40 years old.
