At least 30 people died and more than 40 were injured this Sunday when a dozen carriages of a train derailed in the province of Sindh, in southern Pakistan, according to state television, Pakistan TV.
The station showed images of the incident, where a large number of passengers are seen gathered near the derailed wagons, several of them overturned.
The accident took place near the Nawabshah district, in the Sindh province, when 10 carriages of the Hazara Express train derailed, which departed from the southern city of Karachi, the spokesman in Sindh for the state railway company, Pakistan Railways, told EFE. , Muhammed Anjum.
Rescuers took injured passengers to the nearby Peoples Hospital in Nawabshah.
Train crashes are common on poorly maintained stretches in Pakistan, where colonial-era signaling and communication systems have not been modernized and safety standards are poor.
