The second plane that the Government has chartered this week to evacuate the staff who collaborated with the Spanish authorities in Afghanistan has landed at 8:45 pm at the Air Base of Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid) with 160 refugees from 28 families.

.

It is the second flight that arrives from Islamabad (Pakistan), after chartered Monday with 84 Afghan refugees, including several minors and women.
The aircraft has reached the base with an hour of delay with respect to the scheduled schedule initially.

At the base of Torrejón, the entire device is prepared to receive this new Afghan contingent, in an operation that designed a working group composed of representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Health, Defense and Inclusion, Social Security and Migration
.

Recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs traveled to Pakistan and Qatar to transfer his authorities to establish ways to evacuate from Kabul to Afghan collaborators who could not leave their country in the first phase of repatriation.

Qatar and Pakistan are the states that have a greater political relationship with Afghan radical Islamists.

The arrival of around 245 Afghans, between yesterday and today, joins the 2,206 people between Spaniards and Afghans who were evacuated in the first evacuation operation carried out by Spain last August.

Precisely on Tuesday, the Government President, Pedro Sánchez, has participated in the extraordinary summit of the G20 on Afghanistan, where he has asked to “extract collective lessons from the situation for other fragile regions, such as the Sahel”.

The G20 leaders have addressed humanitarian aid for the Afghan population, safety before terrorism and drug trafficking, evacuation plans and collaboration with neighboring countries.

“We are determined to evacuate all of our former Afghan collaborators at risk, we will not leave anyone behind,” the president has underlined.
