Ivana Trump, the first wife of former US President Donald Trump and mother of three of his children, died at 73, the Republican billionaire announced on Thursday July 14.

“I am very sad to announce to all who loved her, and there were many, that Ivana Trump died at her home in New York,” Donald Trump wrote on his social network, Truth Social. The former tenant of the White House hailed the “great” life of this former cross-country skier and model of Czech origin, who was his wife from 1977 to 1992. “Her pride and joy came from her three children, Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric,” he added.

“Our mother was an incredible woman,” her children said in a statement. “She fled communism and adopted this country,” they point out.

Unconscious discovery

In October 2017, a few months after Donald Trump’s installation in the White House, she published Raising Trump (“Raise the Trumps”, Gallery Books, untranslated), a book in which she recounted having taught her children “the value money, not to lie, cheat or steal, respect for others”.

After Ivana, Donald Trump married actress Marla Maples with whom he had a daughter, Tiffany. He has been married since 2005 to Melania Trump, Barron’s mother.

In a statement sent to Agence France-Presse, New York police said they went to Ivana Trump’s apartment after calling the 911 emergency number and finding her “unconscious” and not showing no vital signs. His death does not appear to be “criminal in origin,” law enforcement said.
