José Alfredo Jiménez Jr., son of the iconic artist of Regional Mexican name, died on Wednesday, confirmed the National Interpreter Association (ANDI).
“Andi México communicates the death of the interpreter partner José Alfredo Jiménez Jr., composer and musical producer with a prolific career. Its families and friends send our most feeling condolences,” the association wrote in a tuit.
Although the reason for his death has not been revealed, some local media ensure that the artist had a cancer that severely deteriorated his health.
According to local media, the artist would be 63 years at the time of his death, although the official page of the Society of Authors and Composers of Mexico (SACM) only specifies that it was born on 9 November in the country’s capital.
Jiménez was an engineer in electronic systems, but he was also composer, and created topics like “wounded wound”, “the night that gave me the stars” or “I need a piece,” according to his biography as a SACM partner.
José Alfredo was characterized by following the steps of his father by dedicating his life to the composition.
Artists recognized as Tania Libertad, Lupillo Rivera, Paty Christmas or Cañaveral group, among many others, interpreted their themes.
As a producer he worked on records for María de Lourdes, Lola Beltrán, Fight Villa, Lorenzo de Monteclaro, Little Joe, Jorge “Coque” Muñiz, Tania Freedom and Banda El Recode de Cruz Lizárraga, and also in the soundtrack of the movie “LA

Recently José Alfredo had commented that he was collaborating in the writing of his father’s bioserie who carries out the HBO Max platform, even without a release date.
He showed special interest that iconic personalities of the composer era such as Chavela Vargas, a great friend of Jiménez, Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete could be part of the story.
