“Charmed” actress Rebecca Balding has died at the age of 73. Her husband, director, screenwriter and film producer James L. Conway, confirmed the sad news to “Entertainment Weekly”. Accordingly, Balding lost her battle with ovarian cancer on July 18. Although Balding was born in 1948, some US media write that she lived to be 66 years old.
Balding has appeared in many US series. In the 1990s she had guest appearances in “A Heavenly Family”, “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Melrose Place”. She had one of her most famous roles in the series “Soap – Trautes Heim”. From 1978 to 1980, she played conniving attorney Carol David, who repeatedly tries and eventually succeeds in seducing gay character Jodie Dallas (played by Billy Crystal). When she becomes pregnant, Jodie agrees to marry her. However, Carol flees to join the rodeo, leaving Jodie with the child. However, she later routinely returns to make life miserable for her ex.
In 1980 Balding got a role in the horror film “Psychock”. It was also around this time that she met her husband, James L. Conway, while auditioning for the horror film ‘The Boogens’ (1981), which he directed. Most recently, the actress played Elise Rothman from 2002 to 2006 in the mystery series “Charmed – Zauberliche Hexen”, where her husband also worked as a director and producer. Balding is survived by two daughters, Sarah and Kathleen, in addition to Conway.
