The New Popular Ecological and Social Union, (Nupes), is an unprecedented group bringing together the main left wing parties under Jean-Luc Melenchon’s aegis. It arrives slightly ahead the first round of legislative elections on Sunday, June 12th with 25.7% vote according to the Ifop Fiducial institute. This ballot was marked by record abstentions (between 51.5% and 53%).
With 25% of the vote, the coalition of the presidential majorities, called Together!, would be close behind. The National Rally (RN), which received 19.3% of the vote, was ahead of Les Republicains and its allies (LR), who had 11.6%.
Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, 6th Calvados constituency, is in a strong position at the end the first round. She has more than 36% vote and 13 points better than her Nupes opponent.
Marine Le Pen, the presidential runner-up in Pas-de-Calais won almost 55% of votes in the Henin-Beaumont constituent. Due to too many abstentions, she may not be able to win the first round.
A projection by Ifop shows that the absolute majority (289 deputies), is not certain for macronists. Together! Together, they could get between 275 to 310 deputies. LR and UDI would get between 40-60 deputies and the RN with 5-25 deputies would not be able to obtain a parliamentary group.
