Michelle Obama is currently being more open than ever: In her memoirs, she reports on her experience with menopause or how dissatisfied she has always been with her appearance. From March, the former First Lady of the USA will be even more personal in a podcast.
From the beginning of March, Michelle Obama will be heard alongside numerous stars in a new podcast. The first episode of “Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast” will be released on Audible on March 7th. It’s the first fresh podcast from the Obamas, who inked their media company Higher Ground to an exclusive multi-year, multi-project deal with the Amazon subsidiary in the summer of 2022.
The former First Lady of the United States and wife of ex-US President Barack Obama toured the United States last year as part of the release of her new book The Light We Carry . Among other things, she welcomed famous media personalities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Conan O’Brien, Oprah Winfrey and David Letterman. The conversations that the 59-year-old had can now be heard in the new podcast.
In a press release, Audible speaks of exclusive, personal stories and insights that everyone involved is said to have only shared during the tour so far. It is about topics such as overcoming challenges and how meaningful relationships can be built. Eight episodes are planned to be released weekly. Initially, the episodes will be available exclusively on Audible for two weeks, and then on other platforms that offer podcasts.
The former First Lady of the USA is currently talking a lot about personal things. She told People magazine about her experience with menopause. “I find that I can’t push myself like I used to. It doesn’t work for me,” she said. In her memoirs, she also revealed that she “always hated her appearance”. She is dissatisfied with her appearance, “all the time, and no matter what happens”. Above all, she always suffered from her height of 1.80 meters. At school she was at the bottom of the social hierarchy. “It left me with a small wound, a tiny core of self-loathing that kept me from using my strengths,” the 59-year-old wrote.
