Rostock/Jarmen/Löcknitz (dpa/mv) – At least nine people were injured in traffic accidents on wintry roads in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. As police spokesman said, two accidents occurred on Monday morning on Autobahn 20 near Jarmen. In addition, a car near Löcknitz (West Pomerania-Greifswald) and four vehicles crashed on the federal highway 110 near Groß Toitin (West Pomerania-Greifswald) and on the Autobahn 19 between the Rostock-Überseehafen and Rostock-Nord exits.
A car and a van skidded on Autobahn 20 north and south of Jarmen in the early morning. Both were driving too fast for the road conditions. The car crashed into the central barrier, the driver was injured. The van swerved to the right off the A20. It is unclear whether there were any injuries. Both accidents happened in the northbound direction. A car slid off the road into the ditch south of Löcknitz. All three occupants were taken to a clinic, but the severity of the injuries was unclear.
On Sunday, near Rostock, a 40-year-old driver was driving too fast on the A19 when it was snowing. Her car skidded off track, spun to the right, and rolled over twice. The woman and her 10-year-old daughter were injured.
Three people were injured in a three-car accident on the B110 between Groß Toitin and Padderow. Here, a 21-year-old drove his car into the oncoming lane and collided with an oncoming car, which was thrown against a third car. The 79-year-old driver of the second car and his passenger were flown to a clinic with serious injuries. The 49-year-old driver of the third car was injured and taken to the hospital. The 21-year-old who caused the accident was not injured. He is being investigated on suspicion of negligent bodily harm. The total damage was estimated at around 35,000 euros.
