Schwerin (dpa/mv) – In the first month since foreign teaching assistants for refugee children began to be hired at schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the state employed 35 people at 29 schools. These are mainly people from Ukraine. 27 have a Ukrainian degree as a teacher, as the Ministry of Education announced on Friday in Schwerin.

The condition for being hired as an external substitute for refugee children is that the persons concerned speak the children’s native language and can generally communicate with their German teacher colleagues. Around 2,700 refugee children from the Ukraine are now studying in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

According to the information, the substitutes are paid from salary group 10. According to the tariff table, this means a starting salary of 3427.65 euros per month. The substitutes should work in a supportive capacity in the classes.
