Two cars collide on a country road in Western Pomerania. Both drivers are killed. Investigations conclude that one suddenly drove to the left.
Lubmin (dpa / mv) – When two cars collided on a country road in Western Pomerania, two young men died. The accident happened on Saturday afternoon on Landesstraße 262 between Brünzow and Lubmin (West Pomerania-Greifswald), as a police spokesman said in the evening. The drivers, both of whom came from the region north of the county, were each traveling alone.
According to initial investigations, a 32-year-old driver who came from the direction of Lubmin and drove south towards Brünzow got into the oncoming lane with the car. The other driver, who was also 32 years old according to the police, could no longer avoid it, so the two cars probably collided head-on at high speed. Both cars were badly damaged. Witnesses alerted the police.
The public prosecutor’s office ordered the use of an accident expert from Dekra, it said. He is supposed to investigate why one driver got into the oncoming lane. The country road was closed for almost four hours to record the accident and recover the vehicles. The police estimated the property damage at around 25,000 euros.
