Schwerin (dpa/mv) – For Germany’s largest statistical survey, the 2022 census, which has been running since mid-May, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is still missing a fifth of the required interviewers. For the interviews in a good 74,000 households in the state, 2,000 honorary survey officers would be needed by August, the state statistical office said on Friday in Schwerin. But they only have 1,600. They have been on the road for the surveys since May 15.
Volunteers are still being sought, especially in rural areas. “We are mainly missing interviewers in the Demmin, Neustrelitz, Waren, Anklam, Pasewalk, Wolgast and Güstrow areas,” said Interior Minister Christian level (SPD). They can schedule and organize their appointments with the people to be interviewed largely independently. The interviewers received an expense allowance of up to 1500 euros.
The census – formerly the census – collects a large amount of data from people, on which later decisions in the federal, state and local governments are based. According to the information provided, the 2022 census will determine eleven years after the previous one how many people live in Germany, how they live and work. People are randomly interviewed.
