Schwerin (dpa/mv) – The government factions in the Schwerin state parliament have agreed on a candidate to succeed the state data protection officer Heinz Müller. The left-wing parliamentary group’s keynote speaker, Sebastian Schmidt, should stand in the December elections, the parliamentary group announced on Wednesday in Schwerin. The fully qualified lawyer has relevant experience in data protection in organizations.

The parliamentary director of the Left Party, Torsten Koplin, emphasized Schmidt’s position as data protection officer for the state association of the party, which he has been doing for ten years. “We are convinced that in Mr. Schmidt we will have a worthy successor in office.”
