Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) – The police in Neubrandenburg warn of thieves from electric bicycles. The reason is a series in which ten of these e-bikes have been stolen in the city area in July, as a police spokeswoman said on Thursday. Most of the high-quality e-bikes were secured with locks on bike racks, but this was not an obstacle for the thieves. According to the police, the total damage is almost 20,000 euros. Most recently, two such bikes that were connected in front of residential buildings disappeared on Wednesday.

The police recommend stronger locks or more modern security systems via GPS. The purchase price of a security lock or system should be set at up to ten percent of the bicycle price. In general, the lighter and more expensive an e-bike, the heavier and more expensive the lock should be. In this way, stolen bikes could also be located with a hidden GPS transmitter.
