Rostock (dpa/mv) – The state office responsible for food safety has drawn a very positive balance of the examination of delicatessen salads. In 68 salad samples, including meat and sausage salads, herring and egg salads, only one sample spoiled by yeast had to be complained about, as the office reported on Tuesday. There were also four complaints about labeling deficiencies in pre-packaged delicatessen salads.
In three samples, bacteria of the genus Listeria were detected in concentrations that were not harmful to health. The other microbiological parameters were unremarkable. Five samples were conspicuous due to higher levels of intestinal bacteria. “That did not lead to complaints, but to indications,” it said.
