Wismar (dpa / mv) – In the port of Wismar, the ships shine in Christmas splendor on the third Sunday in Advent. On Sunday (2:00 p.m.) the traditional Seaman’s Christmas will be celebrated in the Hanseatic city. The fishing cutters and passenger ships that will cast off for the last trip of the year are involved. The prelude is a prayer on the “Wissemara”, the replica of a Hanseatic cog from the 14th century. Then the brightly lit ships depart for a final evening voyage at sea. With the Seaman Christmas, the fishermen say thank you for their annual catch, among other things.
