Schwerin/Rostock/Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) – The Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania see the proposals for the implementation of the nationwide gas price brake as insufficient. The industry representatives are therefore thinking “of concrete steps such as bringing forward the start of the gas price cap for households and businesses on January 1, 2023 and, if necessary, retrospectively applying relief with the now defined start on March 1, 2023,” said a joint statement from the IHKs in Schwerin, Rostock and Neubrandenburg on Thursday. The previous proposals are not sufficient in terms of time or scope to achieve planning security and relief for companies.
The gas price commission set up by the federal government had proposed initially relieving gas and district heating customers with a one-off payment in December. This should serve as a bridge until the start of the regular gas price brake in March, which should apply until at least April 2024.
