Cult moderator Wetter Werner will design his own web radio for Karls in the future. The personnel was just one of the news that the company announced at the start of this year’s ice world.

Rövershagen (dpa/mv) – A mixture of Vincent van Gogh and Franz Kafka awaits visitors to the Ice World in Karls Erlebnis-Dorf in Rövershagen (Rostock district) this year. The motto of the ice world, the 19th edition of which opened on Friday, is “The Infinite Metamorphosis”, based on the Kafka story.

Latvian artist Karlis Ile, world champion ice carver, will use several large blocks of ice to sculpt figures inspired by the painter’s and writer’s works. This year, for the first time, visitors can be there live when Ile, who is already at work in Rövershagen, starts the chainsaw on the blocks.

“That was what our fans wanted. They absolutely wanted to see how the ice figures are made,” said Karls spokeswoman Nadja Schriever. In the coming months, other artists will be invited to create new figures out of the ice, free from specifications.

Last year, the ice world had 340,000 visitors. Schriever: “We hope that we can convince as many visitors or even more of our new concept at the 19th Ice World.”

In addition, Karls announced the launch of his own adventure web radio for Friday evening. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s cult radio presenter Wetter Werner was landed for this. “Good mood, good news, good music,” promised Wetter Werner, who until a few months ago could still be heard on the private radio station 80s80s, the successor to Antenne MV, for which he was a reporter and weather expert for around 20 years.
