Demmin (dpa / mv) – Police and public prosecutors arrested a man in Demmin (Mecklenburg Lake District) who is said to have stabbed a 47-year-old and left him helpless. The 32-year-old accused of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm, as senior public prosecutor Andreas Lins said on Monday in Neubrandenburg. The exact motive is still unclear. The incident happened outdoors in Demmin early on Saturday morning. The arrest took place on Monday.
According to previous investigations, the 32-year-old is said to have fatally injured the 47-year-old Demminer “with a knife or other sharp object”. The perpetrator then fled. A whistleblower contacted the rescue services anonymously. They found the victim, who was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The man has not been heard so far, as Lins said. A coroner examined the wounds.
Lins declined to comment on how officials tracked down the 32-year-old. The public prosecutor’s office now wants to apply for pre-trial detention due to strong suspicion for the suspect. The demonstration at the district court is planned for Tuesday.
