Rostock (dpa/mv) – Only three days after the historic opening success in the basketball Bundesliga, the Rostock Seawolves have followed up. At the MHP giants Ludwigsburg, the newly promoted team managed to score 102:95 (52:64) on Wednesday after an impressive race to catch up. The best thrower for Rostock was Derrick Alston (29).

The Seawolves got off to a bad start. After less than two and a half minutes, Held took the first time-out given the score of 2:11. The speech to his team had a short-term effect, but then the hosts even moved away to 13 points in the meantime. Although the Rostockers managed to reduce the gap to four points, they had increasing problems stopping the offensive actions of the Ludwigsburg team until the break. On the other hand, the Held team missed too many two-pointers (8/17).

As against Ulm, Rostock showed comeback qualities. With a 12:0 run within just under four minutes, the Seawolves managed to equalize (64:64) and a little later the guests took the lead for the first time in the game. In the dramatic final phase, the Seawolves finally kept their nerve.
