Due to the corona pandemic, the 2020 healthcare industry conference was canceled; last year it was significantly smaller than in the past. And the pandemic will also keep the conference busy this year.
Rostock (dpa/mv) – The processing of the corona pandemic is one of the major topics that the national industry conference in the healthcare sector will deal with next Thursday and Friday. In the current lull in the pandemic, the questions of how the supply of the population can be secured in the future urgently need to be clarified, said the conference president and Greifswald medical professor Marek Zygmunt of the German Press Agency. To the conference entitled “
“We finally have to come to terms with digitization in the healthcare industry,” said Zygmunt. For example, the digital patient file or the ID card for health professionals urgently need to be launched. This has been talked about in Germany for years and is already part of everyday life in many other countries.
Germany is years behind. “The health authorities had to do a lot of things on paper and with fax machines,” criticized Zygmunt. The tracking of infections thus meant an extremely high personnel effort, which could only be managed with the support of the Bundeswehr. “That wouldn’t have been necessary.”
The pandemic has not only highlighted the technical deficiencies in the health system, the issue of a shortage of skilled workers has also come to the fore with a vengeance. The Rostock conference will try to be able to answer questions about better use of the available resources in several formats.
The handing over of the “Masterplan Healthcare Management Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania 2030” to Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) is of great importance for the state. The plan is the strategic basis for the further development of the industry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and was updated under the coordination of the BioCon Valley network for the healthcare industry.
