Güstrow (dpa / mv) – A speeder in the Güstrow region had a 30-kilometer chase with the police – sometimes without lights at night. A number of other drivers had to dodge until the 33-year-old was finally stopped not far from Laage (Rostock district), as a police spokesman said on Monday. The incident happened on Saturday night.
The man was noticed by officials in Güstrow when he risked overtaking other vehicles shortly after midnight. After that, he was at times traveling at double the speed allowed on federal highway 104 and overtook without paying attention to oncoming traffic. A patrol car had to swerve to prevent a serious accident.
Then the Güstrower fled via the Autobahn 19 at more than 200 kilometers per hour and then in the direction of Laage. He was measured at 0.4 per mil breath alcohol. He stated that he was afraid of losing his driver’s license because of a risky overtaking maneuver in Güstrow. He then had to hand it over to the police.
