Rostock (dpa/mv) – After the decision of the Buga supervisory board that there would be no federal garden show in Rostock in its planned form in 2025, the citizenship member Sybille Bachmann from the Rostocker Bund called for a plan B without the show. The top of the town hall must do everything possible to implement planned and partially started projects in cooperation with the respective federal and state funding bodies without a federal garden show, said Bachmann on Wednesday in Rostock.

An investigation was presented to the Buga supervisory board on Tuesday evening that it would not be possible to prepare the so-called Rostocker Oval along the Warnow river by 2025 as the sole event area subject to admission. In particular, the heart of the Buga – the pedestrian and cyclist bridge over the Warnow – cannot be completed by the planned opening of the show in April 2025. Alternative plans were not submitted.

The state government had previously pointed out that given the large number of planned projects in Rostock with a total value of around 600 million euros, it was not possible to postpone Buga to 2026. All projects are related.

“It is more than regrettable that Rostock has messed up the Buga 2025 since the end of 2019, largely through its own fault,” said Bachmann. It should be learned from. In addition, no new mistakes should be made.
