An island full of vintage cars: At the weekend, fans of classic cars meet for a rally on Rügen. About 50 vintage cars are registered for the tours.

Binz (dpa/mv) – Passing avenues and seaside resorts in a chic car: on the long Ascension Day weekend, vintage car lovers meet for the 21st time for the “Rügenclassics” rally on the island. More than 50 vehicles have been registered, the organizer said. The rally started in Sassnitz on Thursday and from Binz on Friday. Another trip from Sellin is on the agenda for Saturday.

According to the route map, the participants drive about 400 kilometers across the island of Rügen, on large and small roads. There are several presentation locations along the route where visitors can talk about the classic cars.

“Participants travel to Rügen with their vintage cars from all over Germany and neighboring countries to experience Germany’s most beautiful and largest island,” the website said. The rally has also taken place in the past two years despite the corona pandemic, although not always at the planned time, said the organizer. This year we are therefore looking forward to welcoming visitors again in May.
