Heringsdorf (dpa/mv) – The East German Savings Banks Association published its tourism barometer on Tuesday (10.30 a.m.) in Heringsdorf (Vorpommern-Greifswald district). This year, the experts primarily focused on the topic of quality assurance in times of labor shortages.
At the end of August, Tobias Woitendorf, Managing Director of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Tourism Association, was cautious about the industry’s perspective despite the good number of bookings: “We’ve had a rollercoaster ride. Even if the numbers are good again now, there will be no calming down industry.” According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Schwerin, 12.2 million overnight stays in the hospitality industry in the northeast were counted in the first six months of the year. After two lean Corona years, the result came close to the 13.5 million from 2019.
