Schwerin (dpa/mv) – The generational change is in full swing in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s schools. The proportion of younger teachers up to the age of 40 has risen from 8.3 to 28.6 percent in the last ten years. This is the result of figures published by the state’s statistical office in Schwerin on Wednesday.
In the past school year 2021/22, 3,366 of the 11,773 full-time and part-time teachers were no more than 40 years old. In the 2011/12 school year, 867 out of 10,419 teachers were under the age limit.
With rejuvenation, the proportion of educators working full-time is increasing. In the 2021/22 school year it was 65.1 percent, ten years earlier it was only 48.9 percent.
