Rostock (dpa/mv) – The Rostock Seawolves are committed to the construction of the arena at Kesselborn. Modern competition venues are a basic requirement for the further development of basketball in senior and youth competitive sports, according to a statement on Wednesday signed by the 1st chairman André Jürgens and the 2nd chairman Jens Hakanowitz. This necessary addition to the StadtHalle is “expressly supported” by the club. Those responsible for the newly promoted Bundesliga team demand that the project be pushed ahead quickly “in order to do justice to the current sporting resources and to give our city a future.”
At the same time, the club made it clear that the Kesselborn Arena was not a solution to the desire for their own training hall. With a view to the more than 1800 active members under the age of 18 in mass and competitive sports in the club, it is emphasized that they need their own training facility within the city limits. This requires a three-field hall in public hands as a permanent meeting point for young and old.
