Schwerin (dpa/mv) – For the third time, the volleyball players of SSC Palmberg Schwerin have won against VC Wiesbaden this season, but for the first time they had to give up two sets and thus a point. Accordingly, head coach Felix Koslowski’s conclusion after the 3-2 win in the Bundesliga game on Saturday was: “We had to pull out all the stops, really go to the absolute limit.”
Koslowski had pointed out in advance that the SSC would face a difficult task. Because a few weeks ago the VCW was still at the bottom, but thanks to a series of victories it has worked its way up. “Wiesbaden was in an absolute flow, it was clear that they would present it today,” emphasized Koslowski and added: “The block defense work, the attacking pace that they played was impressive.”
With a view to the cup final against SC Potsdam next Sunday, the 38-year-old thought the dress rehearsal was a success despite losing a point: “We take with us that we managed to defeat Wiesbaden with incredible willpower – not just the team on the field, also the whole atmosphere that prevailed here in the hall.” It was not easy for his players to fight against it. “We were frustrated at times, but still had to raise our heads. That was a real challenge mentally. We mastered it.”
