Schwerin (dpa/mv) – The members of the Schwerin state parliament are continuing their deliberations today (9 a.m.). At the start of the meeting, the persistently low level of wages in the country will once again be the subject of the debate. The coalition of the SPD and the left wants to use changes in the award of public contracts and different subsidy rates for investments to provide incentives for more adherence to collective agreements in the economy and thus higher wages.

At the request of the opposition CDU, the financial situation of the universities should be discussed against the background of high energy costs. The SPD and the left have put the high grid fees in the north on the agenda, which are considered a major reason for the rejection of new wind farms by local residents. Attempts to regulate the fees uniformly nationwide and thus to share the costs of network expansion with the south on an equal footing have so far failed. The Greens want to advance the decriminalization of cannabis consumption with a motion. The traditional Christmas party of the state parliament is planned for the early evening.
