Rostocker (dpa/mv) – A student from Rostock was cheated out of more than 2,000 euros by two alleged employees of the police organization Interpol. The 23-year-old received a call from two women on Monday afternoon who said he had an arrest warrant out and his accounts were frozen, police said Tuesday.

The young man, who, according to the police, was not suspicious, was able to buy his freedom online. Under the guidance of the alleged Interpol employees, he transferred 2,100 euros to an account abroad.

The Rostock police urgently warns of this scam. Sensitive data such as passwords should never be given out to strangers. If in doubt, you should hang up and inform the police, it said.
