Parchim (dpa/mv) – A man from Rostock fought a kilometer-long race with the police because of a major tank fraud – and lost. As a police spokesman said on Monday, the incident happened on Saturday on Autobahn 24 near Parchim (Ludwigslust-Parchim). It was about diesel fuel worth 1450 euros, since the man had also filled a diesel barrel on a trailer, but had not paid for it.
When the officers were being chased, the 41-year-old left the A24 near the Parchim exit, which he had been driving towards Berlin, and drove across fields and paths. Sometimes he drove in the middle of the road so that other drivers had to avoid it. He got stuck in a field near Hof Poltnitz and was arrested.
It turned out that the man did not have a driver’s license, was probably on drugs and the car had stolen license plates. The man is being investigated for fraud, endangering traffic, driving without a license, license plate misuse, theft and violation of the Compulsory Insurance Act.
