Stralsund (dpa / mv) – A driver of a telescopic loader has had an accident in Stralsund while working on a ship. As a police spokesman said on Wednesday, the 53-year-old fell five meters with the heavy device on Tuesday in a port on the Strelasund. The driver was lucky in the accident, as the police spokesman said. The telescopic handler, with the loading arm extended, lost its balance and landed on its wheels on the concrete of the dock next to the ship. The driver was seriously but not life-threateningly injured.

The company wanted to deploy a work basket from the ship, from which work was to be carried out on the ship from the outside. Nobody was in the basket yet. The telescopic handler was totaled, it said. On the instructions of the Stralsund public prosecutor’s office, an expert from Dekra was also deployed.
