Rostock (dpa / mv) – While fleeing the police, a driver in Rostock attacked and injured two officers. The 57-year-old should be checked on Sunday night in the Hansaviertel area, the police said on Monday. He ran from his car to a house entrance. When officers caught him, he responded with punches and kicks. He bit the finger of one of the police officers. The officials were only able to overpower the man with the help of other colleagues and the use of irritants, it was said.
The two police officers suffered abrasions on their arms and legs and bruises on their faces and upper bodies. The driver was also slightly injured. He was treated medically and taken into custody. A blood sample is used to determine whether the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
