Rostock (dpa/mv) – The food industry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is concerned about the price developments for energy and raw materials. “The current situation is extremely unsatisfactory for the majority of companies,” stated the chairman of the state agricultural marketing association (AMV), Tobias Blömer, in Rostock on Monday.

On Thursday, industry representatives from several federal states will meet in Warnemünde for the 5th North German Nutrition Summit to discuss market developments and the current challenges.

According to Blömer, the food industry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is the sector with the highest turnover within the manufacturing sector. The turnover of companies with 20 and more employees reached around 4.2 billion euros in 2020 and was thus twice as high as that of mechanical engineering.
