Trabbi tug of war, the selection of the loudest music system and several races – after two years of a corona-related break, the Trabbis are humming through Anklam again. It started this week – also thanks to great support.

Anklam (dpa/mv) – After a two-year Corona break, a lot of Trabbis are buzzing in Anklam again this week. More than 500 vehicles have registered for the 21st International Trabbi Meeting, said Jens Rüberg, Chairman of the ’93 Trabbi Buggy Club.

The Trabbis and their drivers have been presenting themselves at the airfield in Anklam since Wednesday. The program included a Trabbi tug of war, the selection of the loudest music system and several races and parties.

The fact that the meeting can take place again this year is thanks to the support of the participants and the city, said Rüberg. After the corona-related cancellation in 2020, contractual penalties became due for the club. “We were on the verge of extinction.” Thanks to donations from participants and the support of the city, however, we have now been able to start all over again.

The 2021 meeting was canceled due to the pandemic. According to the association, around 3,000 visitors came to Anklam at the last event in 2019. The Trabbi meeting runs until Sunday.
