Rostock (dpa / mv) – The Rostock Seawolves failed to restart in the basketball Bundesliga after the two-week international break. The promoted team lost to Mitteldeutsche BC on Saturday after a poor performance with 78:102 (39:52) and thus suffered their twelfth defeat in the 22nd game. The best pitcher in head coach Christian Held’s team was playmaker JeQuan Lewis with 22 points.
The Seawolves didn’t get into the game at all at first. Only after the interim 8:20 did the game of the guests improve a little, and the gap shrank to seven points at the end of the quarter. In the second round, however, MBC continued to dominate the action. Rostock had big problems on the defensive and found it difficult to set their own accents on the offensive.
The Seawolves’ hopes of turning the game around in the second half were quickly dashed. The MBC get seven points in a row to lead 59:39. Even after that, the Mecklenburgers found no answer to the offensive actions of the hosts, who paved the way to victory with the quarter result of 30:17. With seven minutes left, the Rostock team were already 30 points behind. The fact that the Held team narrowly won the last section didn’t change anything about the defeat.
