Schwerin (dpa / mv) – The museum specialist Wolf Karge was awarded the culture prize of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Thursday. The 71-year-old has devoted himself to regional history, art and monument culture in north-eastern Germany for more than 50 years. “They help us to be aware of our roots in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania,” said Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) in her laudatory speech at Schwerin Castle.
The state culture award went to Marianne Wöhrle-Braun, who has also been organizing the Schwerin Jazz Night for many years. The state culture prize is endowed with 10,000 euros, the sponsorship prize with 5,000 euros.
