Schwerin (dpa / mv) – Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s state government is looking for the “Woman of the Year 2023”. Proposals will be accepted until October 30, the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Justice, responsible for equality, announced on Thursday. The award is scheduled to be presented at a reception to mark International Women’s Day on March 8, 2023. The day will be a public holiday in MV for the first time next year.

“There are many strong women in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania,” stressed Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD). “We want to honor one of them as Woman of the Year.” Equal Opportunities Minister Jacqueline Bernhardt (left) explained: “We are looking for a woman who, because of her professional, social, social or cultural commitment, has a special effect in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. We want to say thank you for that.” A woman who has made a special appearance through a one-time, special action or achievement can also be nominated. The Woman of the Year award has existed in the Northeast since 2019.
