At the beginning of the week, Briancon was more peaceful at night. Florent Crouhy, Gap public prosecutor confirmed that no other acts of violence had been reported to the office of the Gap prosecution’s Office since the weekend incidents.
Violence between gangs was evident in downtown Briancon on the weekends of June 18-19. From Sunday to Monday, almost twenty armed and hooded individuals clashed. Two men, armed with a machete and a box cutter, were taken into custody at Briancon police station.
The Gapencais magistrate informed us that the two police officers have been released and that the investigation into the “aggravated willful violence at meetings, carrying weapons and participating in a violent group” has continued. In connection with this case, no other arrests were made.
