For almost twenty years, the Leading Brands of Spain Forum has accredited honorary ambassadors of the Spain Brand. They are people, institutions or companies that contribute to conveying a positive image of the country abroad. An initiative that was born in 2005 and that has always had the support of Don Felipe and Doña Letizia.
So this Wednesday, the ceremony, which has been held in the Palcio de El Pardo, has also had the presence of the Kings and a closing speech by Don Felipe. The Monarch assured that both he and the Queen felt “truly proud to publicly recognize the work of this group of businessmen”, of whom the King affirmed that they are “a representation of the best Spanish talent that succeeds and is recognized throughout the world “. Along these lines, Don Felipé assured that “Spain continues to add the best assets to make our country a prestigious international benchmark.”
This year six new ambassadors have been appointed. José Manuel Entrecanales received the distinction as president of Acciona, whom the King highlighted as “a leading company in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure solutions”.
Of the psychiatrist Luis Rojas Marcos, who works as a professor of psychiatry at the University of New York and presides over the city’s public hospital system, he recalled the “fundamental role” he played in the medical care of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. S. “His firm social commitment to him has defined a formidable career,” summed up the Monarch.
The architect Patricia Urquiola, who develops her work in Milan, “has been able to give her creations her own and different character”, in fact her works are exhibited in museums such as the MoMA or the Decorative Arts Museum in Paris.
Carmen Riu, president of the Riu group together with her brother Luis, inherited a hotel chain that was born thanks to her grandparents, who had a small hotel in Palma de Mallorca. The Paralympic athlete Teresa Perales, designated with the title of Honorary Ambassador in the sport category, has won 27 medals in the Paralympic Games and is, as the Monarch stated, “an example of personal improvement that makes us see that we must grow before the adversities”.
Lastly, Dr. Begoña Vila, an astrophysicist specializing in the study of spiral galaxies who works at NASA, is the new Ambassador in the Science and Innovation category. Begoña is responsible for one of the most important instruments of the James Webb Space Telescope: the Guidance Instrument. “She is responsible for ensuring that the largest and most complex telescope sent into space captures the images with the highest possible precision,” Moncarca summarized.
