The Civil Guard has arrested a teacher from the Sierra de la Almenara secondary school in Lorca (Murcia) for an alleged crime of sexual harassment of several students from this center, according to sources from this body.
The arrest took place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Águilas meritorious barracks, where the teacher had been summoned by the Judicial Police to give a statement after being denounced for making comments of a sexual nature to some of his students.
Sources from the Ministry of Education have revealed to Efe that the teacher has been suspended from his duties since March 8 in a precautionary manner and for a period of six months.
When the council received information about his alleged behavior with the students, they opened a file on him and after several inquiries removed him from the center and placed the case in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office, which has opened an investigation.
The administrative file of the council is also still open pending judicial decisions.
This is the second high school teacher arrested this week in the Region of Murcia, after a physical education teacher from the IES Prado Mayor was arrested last Monday in Totana, as the alleged perpetrator of sexual assaults on female students.
