Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – A 14-year-old boy drowned in a lake in Düsseldorf. The rescue workers who were alerted on Wednesday afternoon could only have rescued the teenager, who was initially reported missing, after an intensive search from Lake Lambertus near Düsseldorf Airport. As the fire brigade announced on Thursday, a total of three diving squadrons from Düsseldorf and Duisburg, a police helicopter, boats and rescue workers with sonar devices and thermal imaging cameras were involved in the approximately 90-minute search.
Finally, the young swimmer was found about 20 meters from the shore of the lake. The emergency doctor could only determine the death of the 14-year-old. The course of the accident is still unclear. The police have taken over the investigation.
