Bergheim (dpa / lnw) – The driver of a motorcycle was seriously injured on Sunday evening during an overtaking maneuver near Bergheim (Rhein-Erft district). The 16-year-old was overlooked by an oncoming driver who, despite the ban on overtaking, wanted to overtake a car in front of him, the police said on Monday morning. The driver collided head-on with the motorcyclist, who was seriously injured. The teenager was taken to the hospital by rescue helicopter. The 26-year-old driver was unharmed; according to initial findings, he was under the influence of alcohol.
