Dorsten (dpa / lnw) – 17 men and women from Georgia and one Azerbaijani were provisionally arrested during a customs check against undeclared work in a laundry in Dorsten. The people could not have presented a work permit, the main customs office in Dortmund said on Wednesday. The authorities initiated criminal proceedings against them on suspicion of illegal residence. The employer can expect proceedings for aiding and abetting illegal residence and illegal employment of employees. He faces a prison sentence of up to ten years and a fine of up to 500,000 euros.
