Ratingen (dpa / lnw) – A 22-year-old is said to have suddenly stabbed a 60-year-old in the upper arm in Ratingen (Mettmann district) and severely injured him. The alleged perpetrator fled after the attack on Wednesday evening, but was caught shortly thereafter, the police said on Thursday. He was therefore a danger to himself and others and was admitted to a psychiatric ward.
According to the 60-year-old police, the young man had approached a hotel and suddenly attacked. He is said to have hit him, insulted him and then suddenly stabbed him. The 60-year-old was taken to the hospital. The 22-year-old had previously appeared with the police. A breath alcohol test after the fact showed 2.2 per thousand. Criminal proceedings are now pending against him.
