Witten (dpa / lnw) – An approximately 2500 square meter forest fire in Witten near Dortmund triggered a large-scale operation by the fire brigade. Firefighting units from five locations fought the flames for four hours on Thursday night, according to the fire brigade. First, the Witten emergency services tried to put out the fire on their own, then they asked nearby units for support, since the extinguishing work was made significantly more difficult by the impassable, sometimes steep terrain. The fire brigade from Wetter who came to the rescue alone provided 70 emergency services.
The cause of the fire was still unknown in the morning.
