North Rhine-Westphalia: 84-year-old cyclist dies after a collision with a car

Horstmar (dpa / lnw) – A senior citizen was hit by a car on her pedelec in Horstmar in the Steinfurt district and was fatally injured. The 84-year-old was on the protective strip on the right-hand side of the road on Wednesday when an 87-year-old driver drove her car onto the protective strip for initially unknown reasons and collided with the cyclist, the police said. The 84-year-old fell and died at the scene of the accident. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The scene of the accident remained closed for the time being.
